Understanding Rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin disorder that affects roughly 300 million people worldwide. Characterized by facial redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes, papules and pustules resembling acne, its exact cause remains elusive. Many believe factors such as genetics, immune system dysfunction, and environmental triggers contribute to its development. There are four types of rosacea including pre, mild, moderate, and severe.
Common Rosacea Triggers
Cold weather
Sunlight
Heat
Wind
Alcohol
Hot Drinks
Harsh Skincare Products
Caffeine
Smoking
Stress
Certain Medicines
Menopause
Spicy Foods
Vigorous Exercise
Lifestyle Management for Rosacea Treatment
Managing Rosacea goes beyond medical intervention; lifestyle adjustments are essential. Adopting a gentle skincare routine, using non-irritating products (see below for my recommendations!), and protecting the skin from the sun's harmful rays are crucial steps in Rosacea management. Moreover, making dietary modifications, such as reducing spicy foods and alcohol consumption, can help alleviate symptoms.
My Recommendations for Rosacea Treatment

At home products! The products you use on your skin each day are incredibly important. For people with rosacea, products that hydrate, gently clear dead skin cells, and protect against irritants are what you should be looking for. Here are just a few of my favorites from the skincare line I carry: SPF 30 Hydrating Sunscreen, iLuminating Beauty Oil, iLuminating Cleanser, Infused C Serum, and Pro Lite Serum. A reminder that I do free skin consultations and we can talk through your concerns, goals, and products that may work well for you.
In office treatments: My favorite facial for treating rosacea is our Enzyme Facial. This specific facial works to bring down inflammation, eat dead skin cells, help products penetrate deeper, and above all, hydrates! The photo above is a rosacea patient after just three enzyme facials over a three month period.
