Do I really need an eye cream? Can't I just use my face moisturizer?

Yes, you really do need one. Eye creams are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eye. Products for the face are formulated with stronger active ingredients that can irritate the eyes. Eye creams tend to be thicker, have more oils, and are specially formulated with active ingredients that target dryness, loss of firmness, puffiness and dark circles.

Do I really need to wear sunscreen if I’m inside all day?

Yes! Wearing sunscreen indoors can still be beneficial, depending on your environment and activities. Even when you're inside, you're still being affected by UVA rays coming through your windows. This also applies to car windows. Additionally, there is emerging evidence that blue light from screens, such as computers and phones, can contribute to skin damage over time. Staying consistent with sunscreen, whether you'll be indoors most of the day or not, is always recommended.

How often should I receive a facial?

This all depends on your skincare goals. Generally, every 4-6 weeks is the recommended cadence. In order to keep pores clean, collagen and elastin alive, and cells functioning at their best, you’ll need some assistance from your esthetician every 4-6 weeks. Advanced enzymes, peels, and exfoliating treatments can smooth, brighten, and firm skin more than at-home products can.  Facial lifting and massage treatments breathe new life into your skin by creating oxygen and blood flow while also keeping tissues lifted.

Do I really need to double cleanse?

Yes! Especially if you wear makeup, sunscreen (the gold standard of skincare) and/or have an active, outdoor lifestyle. Start with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, oil, and sunscreen, and finish with a targeted cleanser for your skin concerns such as acne, hyperpigmentation, dry skin etc.

How do I know which facial is best for me?

When you come in for your first appointment we we will go over your concerns and talk about your goals. I will examine your skin and proceed with the best course of action. It is important to be honest about your routine and even lifestyle choices to come up with the best plan for your individual goals.

How should I prepare for a facial?

  1. At least one week before, stop any AHA (i.e. lactic or glycol) or BHA (i.e. salicylic), benzoyl peroxide, or retinol.

  2. No botox, fillers, lasers for at least 2 weeks,

  3. Keep your face out of the sun for at least 5 days before

  1. Let your esthetician know of any medications or medical conditions

  2. If you'd like to work out the same day as your facial, make sure to do it before coming in

  3. Be prepared to discuss skincare concerns and goals

  4. Come in makeup-free if possible

What do I need to do after my facial?

  1. Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins

  2. Wait at least 3-7 days before using exfoliants & retinol

  3. Keep your face out of the sun and heat for a few days

  4. Always wear sunscreen daily, but make sure to do so the days after a facial

  5. Skip your workout after your facial as your skin is more sensitive and heat and friction can potentially cause damage depending on the treatment

How do I maintain the results of my facial?

Maintaining healthy, radiant skin between treatments requires following the recommended home care from your esthetician, staying hydrated, minimizing sun exposure, eating healthy, and managing stress. It’s much like going to the gym to strengthen your muscles/body. To get fit and be strong you must work out daily, eat well, manage stress, and see your trainer for the best results. Having healthy skin is no different.

How will my skin look after a facial?

This depends on the type of treatment performed. Most enzyme exfoliants will give you a glowy look and feel, while chemical peels can be more aggressive and can cause your skin to flake and peel for up to a week.
